Science Writing and Covering Controversy: Vaccines, Ebola and Neuroscience
A recent survey found that more than 80% of Americans support mandatory labeling on “foods containing DNA.” With public understanding and acceptance of scientific consensus at such a low point, it’s more important than ever to avoid the trap of “presenting both sides” when there’s no scientific debate. (Think vaccines, “health scares” like Ebola and climate change.) Why Journalists Should Care About Custom Content
Custom content: It’s not advertising, it’s not marketing, and it isn’t exactly journalism. You’ll hear the views of four experienced journalists who produce custom content: Stephanie Losee, the managing editor for Dell, Monica Mehta, the content director at Sprocket Media, and Bay Area journalists Dan Fost and Leslie O’Neill, who have added custom content to their professional repertoire.
